Briar Patch Park
Briar Patch Park is Wheaton, Illinois’s beloved community park and a hub for outdoor recreation and fun. Located on 1700 Briarcliffe Boulevard, the 25-acre park features a wide array of amenities that are perfect for Wheaton residents and visitors alike.
The park has something to offer everyone from families with young children to those looking for a peaceful retreat. There’s an expansive playground area featuring swings, slides and climbing structures as well as two sand volleyball courts, four baseball diamonds, horseshoe pits and bocce ball courts. For those wanting to experience nature without venturing too far away from civilization, there’s also plenty of lush green space with seating areas ideal for sunbathing or a picnic lunch.
The park is also home to Wheaton’s only public pool, the Wheaton Swim Club at Briar Patch Park. The pool provides swimming lessons and open swim sessions for Wheaton residents of all ages and abilities, as well as birthday party packages and special events throughout the summer months. Be sure to take part in Wheaton’s “Dive In Movie Nights” where movies are projected onto a big screen while swimmers float around in their inner tubes!
If you don’t feel like getting wet there are plenty of other activities available such as the 11-acre skateboard park, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a sand pit volley ball court and the Wheaton Community Center. The Wheaton Community Center provides access to a fitness center, a weight room, two racquetball courts and an indoor track.
Briar Patch Park is also home to Wheaton’s historic Center of History which hosts a variety of programs and events throughout the year.
